Soft and buttery, this Oatmeal Raisin Cookie recipe starts as a pretty gift jar layered with all ingredients, then gifted with instructions for turning the mix into delicious homemade cookies. Feel free to add a twist to this mix by swapping in chopped pecan, chocolate chips, craisins, or yellow raisins for a colorful addition that looks as good as it tastes!

Ingredients

  • For the Jar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cups raisins
  • 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

Instructions

In the Good Cook Sweet Creations Gift Jar, layer flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in the bottom of the jar. Tap several times against a table to level the layer out. Gently add brown sugar and cinnamon on top, press down firmly. Sprinkle a layer of white sugar on top of the brown sugar, then a layer of oatmeal over the white sugar. Top with raisins, then walnuts. Secure the lid tightly. Give the jar with the “How to Make Oatmeal Raisin Cookies” instructions (below).

How to Make Oatmeal Raisin Cookies:

½ cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 tablespoon water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl or stand mixer, beat together the contents of this jar with butter, egg and vanilla, and water. Mix until soft dough forms. Drop the dough by rounded tablespoons onto a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Bake 6-8 minutes, or just until cookies are golden brown. Cool, serve, and enjoy!
