How To Make Bake Ahead Spicy Italian Picnic Pie

  1. Heat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Line a GoodCook 9×13″ baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  3. Place 2 puff pastry sheets on a floured surface, gently press the long edges together, then roll the pastry with a GoodCook rolling pin until 1/4″ thick.
  4. Line the baking pan with the puff pastry, allowing any excess pastry to hang over the sides of the pan.
  5. Layering like lasagna, place ham slices across the bottom of the pan. Top with red peppers, then with 8 cheese slices. Add a layer of salami, then basil, then 8 cheese slices. Add pepperoni, banana peppers, onions, then 8 cheese slices.
  6. Beat the eggs with cream and salt. Pour over the top of the cheese slices, reserving 1 tbsp of the mixture.
  7. Roll a third sheet of puff pastry to 1/4″ thick. Place the puff pastry across the center of the pan. Fold excess pastry from the underside to the top of the pie, crimping the edges together to secure across the top. Brush with 1 Tbsp of the egg mixture and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  8. Bake for 60 minutes, or until golden brown (if the top crust begins to brown too quickly, cover with foil to keep from over-browning).
  9. Cool completely before serving. Slice into pieces, serve and enjoy!

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream, milk, or half-and-half
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Directions
