1. Place all children's plastic cups, plates, and utensils in one kitchen cabinet that's easily accessible to little ones. When children set the dinner table or ask to help in the kitchen, they'll know exactly where to find their place settings.
This not only makes kids feel welcome in the kitchen, it separates safe, shatterproof items from breakables like glass and china.

2. Designate one night each week as "Kid's Night." Let the children help pick a few easy, kid friendly recipes such as personal pizzas and encourage them to help prepare dinner.

3. Ask children to help when measuring dry ingredients. A quick math lesson can
be incorporated into cooking by using measuring tools with easy to read numbers. Explain the different sizes and amounts as you measure ingredients.

4. Choose a workspace that is easy for children to reach. If working at a counter, provide a chair or stable stool for the child to stand on. Or, work on a lower surface such as the kitchen table.
