Tiered Naked Cakelettes

Tiny, trendy cakes in pretty little tiers. Here's how.


  • 2 boxes yellow cake mix, prepared according to package directions
  • 1 batch Best Buttercream
  • green and blue food coloring gel
  • ¼ cup rainbow sprinkles
  • parchment paper
  • 1 Sweet Creations full-sized sheet pan
  • 1 Sweet Creations icing bag
  • 1 Sweet Creations Nesting Cutters set, round


STEP 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread prepared cake batter into a parchment-lined Sweet Creations sheet pan. Bake for 26-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely, preferably overnight. STEP 2. Prepare buttercream frosting, tint with a small amount of blue and green coloring. Fold in rainbow sprinkles. Transfer to an icing bag. Snip a ¼” wide opening from the tip of the bag. STEP 3. Cut the cooled cake into pieces with the Sweet Creations round nester cutters. Cut 6 large pieces, 6 medium pieces and 6 small. For best results, press the cutters swiftly downward into the cake, then remove cut pieces with a metal spatula. Transfer large pieces to a serving platter. STEP 4. Frost the top of each cake piece by piping the frosting around the edges, then running a sharp knife across the top to create a smooth, flat surface. STEP 5. Assemble each cakelette by placing a frosted medium and frosted small piece on top of each large round.
