It was that inspiration which led us straight to carving a giant, round melon into a happy, heart-eyed emoji.

So simple, this fun idea can be made in 10 minutes or less.

Simply slice 1/4 from the upper back section of the melon with a Good Cook Melon Knife. Clean the cut piece until just 1/4″ of the red fruit remains, then cut with a heart-shaped cookie cutter to create the eyes.

A small sharp =knife, like the Good Cook 4″ Paring Knife makes it easy to slice and shape a cut out for the mouth.

Watermelon Emoji

Preparation 10 Serves 12     adjust servings

Celebrate the emoji lover in your life with this fun and simple kitchen craft. Perfect for parties!

Ingredients

  • 1 watermelon
  • Special equipment: toothpicks and heart-shaped cookie cutter

Instructions

With a Good Cook Watermelon Knife, slice 1/4 of the watermelon from the top 'back' of the melon. Clean any extra watermelon from cut piece, leaving about 1/4" of pink melon attached. Cut into 2 hearts with cookie cutter. Set aside. Carefully remove pulp with a metal serving spoon. Slice pulp into cubes. Return cubed watermelon to the back of the watermelon. Cut a small smile into the 'front' center of the melon. Affix hearts with toothpicks.
