Bring crowd-pleasing Mexican street tacos to your grill with these tasty Citrus Steak Street Taco Packets. Citrus-marinated flank steak and pepper strips are sealed in a foil packet, grilled and served taco style. Gather your favorite taco toppings for these delicious and easy Citrus Steak Street Taco Packets.
These simple tacos feature fresh summer flavors and are perfect for a no-fuss weeknight dinner. Grilled up in foil packets, they’re easy to prep with minimal cleanup. This recipe starts with a quick blend of citrusy marinade ingredients, a seasoned mix of sweet orange, zesty lime, onion, garlic, and cumin.
Assembling the foil packets is easy. Sliced flank steak and bell pepper strips are evenly divided among foil squares. When it comes to slicing and dicing everything from meat to vegetables, we love the GoodCook Carbon Steel Chef’s Knife. It’s sharp enough to cut through steak and has a non-slip soft grip handle for control and comfort.
The citrus-infused marinade is drizzled over each packet before sealing. To seal the foil packets, the narrowest sides are pulled up together and folded twice, then folded on each of the long sides twice to seal the ends. The packets can either be refrigerated for up to 4 hours or put on the grill.
After grilling, serve the steak packets with heated tortillas, grilled limes, chopped red onion, avocado (or guacamole), and cilantro. Or pile on your favorite taco toppings. Shredded cheese, sliced radishes, olives, and shredded cabbage make tasty taco toppings.

- 1/4 cup roughly chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic
- A few slices of fresh or pickled jalapeno
- 1 1/4 teaspoons cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- A few grinds of pepper
- 1-1 1/2 lb. flank steak, sliced crosswise into 1/4“ strips
- 1 sweet bell pepper, sliced into strips
tortillas to serve
limes, halved and brushed with oil
small red onion, finely chopped
sliced avocado or guacamole
A few sprigs of cilantro
Preheat oven or grill to 400 degrees.
Combine marinade ingredients in blender and pulse to blend.
Using (4) double-thick 12” squares of foil arrange steak and pepper slices into four portions.
Drizzle ¼ of marinade over each one. (Alternately, add sliced meat and peppers to bowl of marinade sauce and massage in and then divide.) Seal packets, pulling the narrowest sides up together and folding twice, then folding each of the long sides twice to seal the ends. (At this point the packets can be refrigerated for up to 4 hours.) Place packets on grill or in the oven for 25 minutes to cook.
Heat tortillas on the grill (wrap in foil and allow to sit on a cooler side of the grill or quickly cook directly on the grate). Place limes cut side down on the grill until charred and juicy, about 4 minutes. Open steak taco packets tableside and serve with grilled limes, chopped red onion, avocado (or guacamole), and cilantro
