Perfect apple pie, made with a homemade real apple filling and storebought crust.
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a Sweet Creations ceramic pie pan with one round of pie dough. In a large bowl, stir together apples, lemon juice and zest, brown sugar, butter, flour, apple pie spice and sea salt, until well mixed. Pour apples into crust-lined pan, pressing down firmly to compact the apples as much as possible. Place the second round of pie dough on top, crimp edges. Cut 4 small slits in the top of the pie. Brush beaten egg on top, sprinkle with sparkling sugar. Place pie on top of a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, then turn oven down to 350°F and bake for 55-60 minutes more, until pie is golden brown. Allow to cool slightly. Serve topped with ice cream. NOTE: If pie crust turns medium golden as it cooks, cover gently with a sheet of foil to keep the crust from over browning.
